Firefox 99.0.1 Maintenance Update Released

Mozilla released Firefox 99.0.1 to the public release channel on April 12, 2022. The maintenance update addresses four issues in the browser, including an issue affecting the Zoom service and another affecting hardware video decoding for some users. of Windows.

Firefox 99.0.1 is now available. Most Firefox installations are set to update automatically, but updates can take a while before they are automatically downloaded and installed. Firefox users can speed up the process in a number of ways, for example by selecting Menu > Help > About Firefox.

The page that opens shows the current version. When opened, Firefox will run an update check to download and install any updates it finds. A restart is required to complete the installation of the new version of Firefox.

The first issue addresses a hardware decoding issue on some Windows devices. According to the Release Notes, hardware video decoding has been prevented on some Windows systems with newer Intel drivers. A quick review of the bug report reveals that this was caused by an issue that incorrectly added drivers to the block list. It seems that about 13% of all Intel users were affected by this, based on the bug report on Mozilla’s website. The correct amount would be 0.4% based on the blocked drivers.

The second solution fixes a Bengali text rendering issue. The letters were lost according to the error report.

The third solution fixes a drag and drop bug in the browser download panel. The Bugzilla report states that dragging and dropping always activated the first item in the list and not necessarily the item selected by the user. Users can drag and drop files from the download list to upload them directly to external programs.

The fourth and final fix fixes an issue accessing Zoom Gallery mode. It appears that access was prevented when users went to zoom.us instead of a subdomain of the zoom domain.

Firefox 99.0.1 is the first point release of Firefox 99. The main release was released to the public on April 5, 2022.
