Game Mode on Windows 10 doesn't always help: gamers complain about performance drops

There Game Mode (Game mode) was introduced in Windows 10 in 2017 and it is a solution designed by Microsoft for make better use of computing resources, giving priority to gaming in order to increase game performance. This is done by isolating the CPU resources that can be used for gaming, limiting background operations and making even more efficient use of the GPU.

The mode is therefore, on paper, of help for those in search of maximum performance, but it seems that in different titles this is not true. According to what reported by Guru3D, which refers to some posts on Reddit, Game Mode is having the opposite effect with some games, limiting performance and causing sudden stuttering and freezes. Among the titles involved are Call of Duty: Warzone and League of Legends.

The problem doesn't seem to be limited to a particular video cardIn fact, players who show problems have video cards ranging from the Radeon RX 5700 XT, RX 570, RX 480 and R9 29 to the GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 1080 Ti.

It is unclear the underlying reason for these problems, but to exit, simply deactivate the Game Mode. To do this you have to go to Settings, select the Games icon and go to the menu on the left "Game mode". Once on the screen, disable the feature. If you want to shorten the path, in the search write directly "Game Mode" and you will get to the desired menu.
