After the rumors of the past few weeks, confirmations have appeared on the net on the use by NVIDIA from the GPU GA103the foundation of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop, even in the desktop sector and more precisely on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. To confirm this the Chinese site Of Zotacwith three models (Apocalypse, X-GAMING and PGF) equipped with the GA103-200 GPU.
There are no technical differences compared to the RTX 3060 Ti based on the GA104-200 and GA104-202 GPUs, ie the “non-LHR” and “LHR” models, neither in terms of specifications (and therefore performance) nor in terms of declared consumption. The only way to distinguish the new version of the RTX 3060 Ti from the others is to look at the label on the box, Zotac has in fact added an X to the product code (e.g. RTX 3060Ti-8GD6 X-GAMING GOC-X).
The GA103 GPU offers up to 7680 CUDA cores (7424 active on the RTX 3080 Ti mobile), so in the case of the RTX 3060 Ti – with its 4864 CUDA cores – the chip is active for just over 60% (NVIDIA has disabled 2816 drives). The GA103 GPU, according to rumors, occupies approximately 496 mm2, which means that it is 26.5% larger than the GA104 (392 mm2) of the mobile 3070 Ti, but at the same time it is smaller (-21%) than the GA102 (628 mm2) used by NVIDIA for its top-of-the-line desktop GPUs.
It cannot be ruled out that the US company also uses the GA103 on other models: a lot will depend on NVIDIA’s allocation choices based on market demand. At the moment it is not clear whether we will see this “new version” of the RTX 3060 Ti also in the West or only on the Chinese / Asian market.
