GeForce RTX 3090 blower goodbye? Cards disappear from manufacturers’ sites

Talking to you about canceled video cards that don’t reach the market, we must say, it almost seems like a mockery on our part, but in these hours we register how numerous companies (MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, etc.) have removed from its sites the pages of the versions with blower heatsink of the GeForce RTX 3090.

The blower heatsink is the one that has a single fan that collects fresh air from the outside and blows it along the board and then expels the hot air from the back, directly out of the case. Blower-style coolers are generally noisier than other designs, albeit less expensive, and keep the GPU running at higher temperatures.

Attending the presentation of the RTX 3090 with this cooling system had us a little surprised (and recalled times past), given the power involved. The reason for this removal is not yet clear, however, in such a short time from the introduction, so much so that there is already a theory linked to the arrival of the CMP cards, that is the Nvidia line dedicated to mining.

In fact, it is hypothesized that manufacturers may have decided to use this type of heatsink for CMP models, thus opting to stop making cards with reduced diffusion in favor, hopefully, of products that will collect higher sales. In fact, it should not be forgotten that Nvidia’s CMP cards have no video outputs, so the back is totally free to allow the hot air to escape: a blower heatsink could therefore be adequate for the task.
