GPU market, deliveries down 15% year on year in the fourth quarter of 2021

Jon Peddie Researchthe analytics company that monitors thetrend of the graphic marketha widespread data relating tofourth quarter 2021. The last three months of the year have been recording deliveries up by 0.8% on the previous quarter to 101 million units, while compared to last year, the decrease was 15%.

The figure takes into account not only video cards and dedicated mobile GPUs, but also CPUs with integrated graphics, and probably also for this reason that AMD saw its market share rise by 0.7% with an increase in deliveries in terms of units of 4.7%.

Intel’s share remained almost stable (-0.1%) with shipments up by 0.6%, while NVIDIA – the only one of the three not to have a CPU with integrated graphics – has sold 0.60% with deliveries down 2.2%.

Among the other interesting numbers pitted by JPR analysts are relative ones to the dedicated video card sector only (add-in board, AIB)with deliveries up 3% compared to the previous quarter to 13 million units, a figure that represents + 18% on the same quarter of 2020.

At the moment there is no detail on the balance of power between AMD and NVIDIA in that segment, while JPR has released the overall data relating to dedicated GPUs, or taking into account both the desktop and notebook areas.

All in all AMD made a profit on NVIDIAeven if the situation can be defined as stable given that it went from 18% in Q4 2020 to 19% in Q4 2021, after falling to 17% in Q3 2021. Finally, analysts say that on the CPU front, deliveries have dropped by 21% on an annual basis, while increasing by 3.9% compared to the third quarter.
