Gran Turismo 7 will be updated to reduce the heavy emphasis on 'Pay-to-Win'

Polyphony Digitalthe studio behind Grand Touring 7announced that in April it will launch a new update that comes to alleviate the harsh criticism of the community, as this game is entirely focused to people who want to spend real moneywhich makes him a Pay-to-Win (pay to win), as unlocking highly advanced vehicles takes months, even years of daily play, while anyone else paying some money gets the vehicle instantly.

That is why one of the main improvements is increase the credits players earn, although they do not go so far as to indicate in what percentage they do so. Additionally, they reverse some movements, and that is now you can sell the cars you have, which allows you to have additional credits to facilitate the purchase of a new car. That’s right, this was blocked, thus encouraging people to spend real money, something 100% necessary if you want to do something in the multiplayer section, because you are at a clear disadvantage.

Dear Gran Turismo Community,

Thank you for your continued support and feedback on Gran Turismo 7, we really appreciate it. I’d like to apologize for the frustration and confusion caused last week when our update patch caused not only a server outage, but also changes to the in-game economy with no apparent explanation.

We know that this is not the Gran Turismo experience that players expect, so we have decided to offer a free 1 million Cr. in-game credit pack to those who have been affected by these issues*. They will arrive in your accounts soon. Log in to the game before April 25 to be able to redeem them.

The deployed update was intended to rectify an issue with credit rewards from some World Circuit Events races. But in order to rebalance them to be more fair and accurate based on time spent and degree of completion, we had to recalculate the entire reward system.

To improve the player experience, we will be rolling out a new major update in early April. With it, the number of events will be expanded and the reward system will be reset and become more balanced for the benefit of all players.

These are the updates that will be available from the beginning of April:

  • Increased rewards (by 100%) in the events of the second half of World Circuits.
  • New rewards for completing all gold/bronze Circuit Experience races.
  • Increased rewards in Online Races.
  • Eight new one-hour Endurance Race events for Missions. These events will have higher rewards.
  • Increased the limit of game credits (free credits) from 20 million Cr. to 100 million Cr.
  • Increased number of used and legendary cars available in the game.
  • There will also be a series of minor updates between now and the end of April that will add new vehicles and tracks, as well as other minor improvements.

Finally, we would also like to mention some of the future improvements and updates that we are working on. We cannot give dates yet, but all news will be published in advance on www.gran-turismo.com.

  • Increased value of rewards available for a limited time as the game goes live.
  • More World Circuits events.
  • More Endurance Races for Missions, including 24h races.
  • Online timed trials (Online Time Trials) and rewards based on the difference of the player’s times with the best times of the classification.
  • The possibility of selling vehicles.
  • We want to say thank you for all the support, patience, and feedback from our players during this time as we grow and continue to work on GT7 to make it a game that everyone can fully enjoy.
  • We want the lines of communication to always be open so that we can work together for the best gaming experience possible.

*Limit one per person. In order to redeem the credits pack, you must have a physical or digital copy of Gran Turismo 7 for PS4 or PS5 purchased before the publication of this article (9:00 am on March 25, 2022) and be logged into Gran Turismo 7 between 9 a.m. (peninsular time) on March 25 and 9 a.m. on April 25.
