Graphics card prices with another level of absurdity

After the last predictions, it had to come at last. In the US, the prices of graphics cards are experiencing a real renaissance … in a bad sense. The worst part is that the European market is also starting to feel this.

Traditionally, mid and high segment systems have been hit the most. So the wholesale price (that is, the one paid by stores and distributors) GeForce 1060 has already increased by 18%, which means that instead of around 256 euros we will now pay well over 300 euros. In turn, the cost of purchase (or rather an order from a distributor) the latest GTX 1070 Ti is already € 529 (up from € 440). This is of course dependent on availability, because according to recent reports, getting this model in stores is almost a miracle. The GeForce GTX 1070, 1080 and 1080 Ti variants are the best. In their case, price jumps reach 16% (420 do 489€), 11% (503 do 559€) and 10% (705 do 772€).

However, the Nvidia camp is not as messed up as AMD. We have known for a long time that the Radeon RX Vega is a store legend, but now the Radeon RX 400 and 500 series have joined them again. The highest price increase was achieved by the RX Vega 64, as much as 58 percent – from 602 to 902 €. The RX 580 can boast a cost of € 379 (152% from € 249), a RX 570 – 295€ (additional 43% up to € 206). The RX Vega 56 and RX 560 are a bit better, but still not very interesting. The first one went up by 36% (from € 549 to € 749) and the other about 24% (from 111 to 138 €). On the other hand, the latest reports from the WccfTech website indicate that the cost of purchasing the GTX 1080 Ti model in stores reaches 1300€, a RX Vega 64 – 1715€.

According to the source, this will continue for the next 10 weeks. This means that by the end of March we should watch higher and higher prices for virtually all the latest and most efficient graphics cards. Both players and designers of cryptocurrency miners liked these, which ultimately exceeded the demand over the supply. Admittedly, the above wholesale prices (which will surely additionally raise the store) are only confirmed in US stores, but will also reach us soon. Let the news for these days be the increase in the supply of RAM memory chips, the overall cost of which fell by about 5% in the last quarter.
