Graphics cards in the Radeon RX 6700 series are said to be launched in March

With “Big Navi” and the graphics cards in the Radeon RX 6800 and 6900 series, AMD has shown that the company in this generation can also be counted on in the performance segment. Like its competitor Nvidia, however, the company has suffered from poor access to its latest product, and in the case of AMD, it has been even worse if possible. While Nvidia looks to pump out plenty of new models for next week’s CES show, AMD looks to have lost the invitation to the launch party.

French Cowcotland reports that AMD’s next launch, the cards in the Radeon RX 6700 series, will be postponed. Availability is not expected until the final phase of the first quarter of the year, ie late in March. The cards may nevertheless be premiered during CES with availability at the date in March, in the same way as the company announced the launch of the “Big Navi” cards.

The cards in the Radeon RX 6700 series are expected to be two in number, an RX 6700 and an RX 6700 XT – although guest games from the circuits listed at USB-IF can not be excluded. The graphics circuit on which the series is based is called the Navi 22, which with its 40 computing units is an RDNA 2-based direct replacement for the Navi 10 and Radeon RX 5700 XT. However, the memory bus is expected to be choked to 192 bits for a total of 12 GB of GDDR6 memory, something Nvidia looks to face with the RTX 3060 in the same memory configuration.

We have previously reported that the cards in the Radeon RX 6700 series with the Navi 22 circuit are expected to have a TGP of 186-211 watts in stationary design. The circuit is also expected to form the basis for AMD’s upcoming graphics card for portable use – a segment Nvidia according to leaks from recent days is expected to present the RTX 3000 series for during the CES show.

Navi 22 is also expected to be closely related to the graphics chips in the latest generation of game consoles from Microsoft and Sony. In terms of performance, the top model in the Radeon RX 6700 series is expected to take place between the consoles’ RDNA 2-based circuits, where the Playstation 5 sits on 36 computing units, while the Xbox Series X houses a full 52 units.
