Old love never dies? Engineer Jeff Wilson, who served as Chief Architect at NVIDIA (2007-2008) and Chipset Specialist for Client Computers (2010-2013) and Senior Vice President of Silicon Engineering (2018-2020), has just returned to the Blue Series, announcing that he has quit Apple. In it, he was responsible for the development of the M1 chip, unique for the entire market, and he will probably try to do the same in the new company, designing a breakthrough SoC for Intel.
SoC systems are the basis of today’s consoles and smartphones, as a combination of GPU, CPU, I / O interfaces and a number of accelerators. While it is not officially known whether Jeff Wilson will take care of Intel’s next-generation SoC, this seems to be the most meaningful use of his experience and skills. The engineer himself only revealed that at Intel he would be working on “next-generation integrated circuits”.

The fruits of his work will probably be known only in a few years, because Intel has already completed work on Intel Meteor Lake systems, which was confirmed by test systems. After Meteor Lake, however, it will be time for Arrow Lake, Lunar Lake and Nova Lake, where Jeff may have more to say.
