Which CPUs and video cards are popular in China? Some data on the first quarter of 2020 released by the popular Chinese benchmark Master Lu (via Wccftech) allow you to get a rough idea of the power ratios in the largest market in the world. We cannot define a definitive look at the Chinese hardware sector, but it is certainly useful to understand how the sales trend in Europe and the United States is not always representative of all the geographical areas.
Let’s not forget that there are poor and rich countries, and China as far as economic power still has large pockets of population with reduced incomes. Furthermore, the fact that the OEM market is very strong in the country, that is of pre-assembled PCs, should not be underestimated. The data you will see therefore does not necessarily reflect retail purchases and it must also be added that they refer only to the systems on which the test was carried out.
From the distributed charts we find that Intel has reached one overall market share of 78.8%, compared to 21.12% of AMD. The desktop sector sees AMD at 19.97% and Intel at 77.08%, while as regards Intel laptops it rises to 81.03% and AMD drops to 18.74%. The percentages not ascribed to the two companies are not better specified, but should bind to local producers.
Among the most popular CPUs we find the Core i5-9400F (Amazon), a processor very popular among preassembled PCs, followed by the Core i3-9100F (Amazon) and the Core i5-9600KF (Amazon). At home AMD stands out the Ryzen 5 3500X (a CPU dedicated to the Chinese OEM market only), followed by the Ryzen 5 3600 (Amazon). In the mobile field, the Core i7-9750H is at the top, probably widespread because it is included in many gaming laptops.
As for GPUs, AMD has a 32.73% share while Nvidia owns 67.18%. At the top of the most purchased and widespread GPUs, however, there is the Radeon RX 580, followed by the GTX 1660 and 1650. The rest of the top 10 sees the presence of only Nvidia cards. Of note in the sixth position of the first RTX, the 2060, and lastly the RTX 2070 SUPER.
