In China, video cards are being sold off after the crunch on mining: GeForce RTX 3060 at $ 270

China’s squeeze on cryptocurrencies is leading Chinese miners to pour thousands of new and old generation video cards onto the second-hand market which for months have been dedicated to mining. By going to block mining farms in Sichuan province, China has led many operators in the sector to move or, where not possible, to sell the video cards in their possession.

So on the Chinese web video cards began to arrive prices much more attractive than those seen in the last 8 months, sometimes even lower than the price list. It should be pointed out what these video cards were for subjected to continuous intense load for months, and therefore most likely may not be in good condition.

It is advisable to remove the cooling system to apply new thermal paste and pads, but other problems cannot be ruled out since the memory of these solutions is often overclocked and the GPU has been subjected to considerable stress. Furthermore, it is very likely that the warranty is also invalid.

As reported by The Block, sellers are selling GPUs at pretty good prices, although for now not individually but in groups of dozens of units: in one case the fixed price ranged from 2200 to 2899 yuan (between 330 and 450 dollars) for each GeForce RTX 3060, but then the seller was forced to reduce the request to 1760 yuan (270 dollars) due to unsatisfactory offers.

Another seller is looking for instead of get rid of gaming laptops with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 GPUs purchased to mine cryptocurrencies, because not only dedicated video cards have been involved in the phenomenon. In this case the price is around $ 1000 per unit.

The phenomenon we are clearly talking about for now is only linked to China, but there could also be international implications in the near future. In any case, as reported a few weeks ago, at least in some countries like Germany, video card prices seem to be falling, although not yet to the point of reaching the price lists indicated by the producers.
