Intel Core i9-9900K tested in 3DMark test

… Which shouldn’t surprise us too much. Today, the result of the Time Spy 1.0 test with the Intel Core i9-9900K processor in the lead role has been added to the 3DMark benchmark database. So the specification was confirmed once again, but performance is something that should be of greatest interest to us.

It is worth recalling that the i9-9900K chip will represent the 9th generation of Intel Core processors. For Intel, it will be the first ever consumer chip to offer as many as 8 physical cores with HyperThreading support. It will also have 16 MB of L3 memory and the Intel UHD 620 graphics chip on board. The way it is made, however, is not impressive, because we are talking about an improved 14nm technological process and Whiskey Lake architecture. This one is supposed to be the successor to Coffee Lake, but it looks like it won’t bring anything new to the core structure itself.

Its base clock is 3.6GHz, but thanks to Turbo Boost technology it jumps to the round 5GHz for dual-core operations. The lowest value is 4.7 GHz with the load on all cores. Of course, as long as the current temperature of the processor allows it, which even a brazed radiator heat exchanger (IHS) can fight against. In the test above, Time Spy was paired with the GTX 1080 Ti on the Z370-F Strix (!!) motherboard, which scored 10,719 in terms of CPU performance. As Wccftech rightly points out, that’s a whole 2,500 points over the Intel Core i7-8700K and nearly 1,500 points over the Ryzen 7 2700X. So is it time to launch the Ryzen 7 2800X?
