Another new Intel processor I got my hands on is the i9 9900K. This is the most efficient design, which is great not only for games, but also for programs. Will it really be so?
Intel Core i9-9900K works with a base clock of 3.6 GHz and 5 GHz in turbo mode. The processor has 8 cores and 16 threads. Compared to the 9700K, you can see double the number of threads that are supposed to positively affect performance. The L3 memory has a capacity of 16 MB. The built-in graphics card is the Intel UHD 630 model. TDP is 95 W. An important thing is IHS soldering, which has a positive effect on the processor’s performance. The 9900K was produced in a 14 nm production process and the warranty is 36 months. It is also worth remembering about the possibility of overclocking, which will be checked in this test.
Tests – programs
In the case of programs, the results are fantastic. The processor shows off great performance that beats any design on the LG1151. So it will also work great during calculations. The single-threaded and multi-threaded performance is definitely top notch.
Tests – Games
In the case of games, it is also great. Do not compare the results with the 9700K test as a different graphics card was used. However, the results obtained are really excellent and ensure the best possible results in games
Temperature and power consumption
In the temperature and power consumption tests, the fan on the Noctua NH-U14S cooling system was set to maximum speed. The processor maintains normal temperatures and has no problems with overheating. The power consumption is high, but that was totally to be expected.
We managed to achieve 5.0 GHz at 1.35 V. It is possible to reach even 5.1 GHz at 1.4 V. However, in this case the temperatures were above 90 degrees and Noctua NH-U14S could not cope. In this case, you need to invest in a decent liquid cooling. The results below show the profit that can be made from third party liability insurance. With good cooling, it is definitely worth trying to do it.
Intel Core i9-9900K currently costs about PLN 3100. The price is very high, as it should be around PLN 2,100. If it drops to such a level, it is definitely worth investing in this construction. It is the most efficient gaming processor, and it will also be great for various programs. Performance definitely beats 9700K, especially when using multiple threads. The 9900K has 16 of them and the profit from this is significant. In games, the processor should also outperform other constructions. IHS brazed provides low temperatures without overclocking. After the OC, they increase significantly and if you want to reach 5.1 GHz, you must buy a decent cooling. The temperatures at the editorial cooling of Noctua Nh-U14S could then exceed 90 ° C, so it starts to get very hot.
Due to the very high prices, it is not worth buying this processor at the moment. However, they should eventually drop to normal levels and then the 9900K should be your first choice if you are looking for the best performance.
