Intel officially suspends all operations in Russia

After officially ceasing to sell its products in Russia, Intel announced this week that it is completely suspending its activities in the country. According to the company, it will continue to support its employees, but will no longer do any business with the territory.

“Effective immediately, we have suspended all business operations in Russia,” the company said in a statement. According to Intel, the decision supports the previous initiative to suspend shipments to customers located in Russia and Belarus. “We are working to support our employees in this difficult situation, including our 1,200 employees in Russia,” the manufacturer continued.

The company says it will take steps to take care of the 1,200 employees who work in the country.

The decision is the result of the continuation of the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, which began on February 24 this year. The war between the countries was started by Russia, which began to invade territories in the neighboring country, although it withdrew its troops from kyiv, Russia recently intensified its attacks in eastern Ukraine and the city of Mariupol.

AMD, Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo and NVIDIA are among those who have decided to support the economic sanctions imposed on Russia.

As we already told you, in addition to Intel, other important names in the technological world have already suspended their activities in the country. AMD, Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo and NVIDIA are among those that have decided to support the economic sanctions imposed on Russia in response to its military activities on Ukrainian territory.

Russia has a year to go before suffering problems due to shortages

The CPU maker’s decision is especially important given its history with the country. In 1991, it was one of the first major foreign companies to establish a division in Russia after the end of the Soviet Union, having invested heavily in both product sales and establishment and research divisions, over the past 30 years.

So far it is not clear whether the company’s employees working in the country will be transferred to other divisions or territories in which it operates. Without the processors manufactured by them and AMD, the expectation is that several companies in the country will suffer component shortages in a period of 12 to 18 months, and the space left by the companies cannot be occupied by local manufacturers, whose products do not provide the same efficiency and competitiveness.
