Killer Wi-Fi modules are now from Intel: acquisition of official Rivet Networks

Intel bought Rivet Networks, the company that manufactures network cards and modules (mainly Wi-Fi) Killer, known and appreciated especially in the gaming sector. The two companies have already collaborated in the past, even if they are in fact direct competitors: for example the Killer AX1650 module, recently presented with support for Wi-Fi 6 technology, is based precisely on Intel chips. The economic terms of the agreement have not been specified.

Intel says that Killer products and software will be part of its portfolio: the brand will therefore continue to exist, indeed, thanks to the chipmaker's network of partners, it is possible that we will see it on even more systems. With this solution, Intel has a greater coverage of the Wi-Fi market for computers: Killer for the most prestigious machines (not necessarily gaming: for example, the aforementioned AX1650 is also found in last year's Dell XPS), the solutions proprietary for the rest of the market.

The Killer brand has made its way into the sector by promising (and actually offering) excellent performance highly appreciated in the gaming sector, especially in relation to the latency, and a very versatile control software that allows you to set resource priorities and optimize the connection. Killer products are found in laptops and desktop motherboards from companies such as Alienware, Dell, MSI, Razer, Lenovo and Gigabyte.
