Leaked Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080: Threat to AMD Graphics Cards?

Leaked Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080: Threat to AMD Graphics Cards?

Fast GDDR6X video memory with high performance levels.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card has appeared in another leak, as the spread of information on the next generation of Ampere graphics cards rolls in waves ahead of the imminent release immediately after the RTX 3090 leak, which we just talked about.

The information comes from well-known source Rogame on Twitter, who shared text and details on the RTX 3080’s specs.

According to Videocardz, who spotted the tweet, the RTX 3080 appears to have a device ID of 2206, which correlates with the findings of another rumor vendor (LaptopVideo2Go), and Rogame also found spec details in the OserBenchmark database.

According to this leak, the RTX 3080 will receive 10GB of GDDR6X video memory – which is in line with early rumors of an upcoming graphics card – at 19GB / s, which also confirms the previous leak (with a potential bandwidth of 760GB / s – versus 616GB / s of the current flagship 2080 Ti).

The RTX 3080’s maximum clock speed in the new leak is 2.1GHz, with which Videocardz notes the actual clock speed will be much lower than that – and essentially in line with current Turing GPUs. This is not a surprise at all, even if many of the comments on Twitter express some disappointment – but then the previous assumption of a massive increase in the clock frequency of Ampere video cards never seemed realistic, and the frequencies are not all the performance.

| ATTENTION FIRST OF ALL

Of course, we cannot get carried away by individual rumors, we should treat this kind of information with caution, even if this leak does fit into previous assumptions in many ways (which makes it more likely, especially considering how close we are to the release of Ampere on September 1 ).

By the way, the latest rumors about the new RTX 3080 claim that the video card will be 35% faster than the current GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, no less.

Rogame also claims that there is an RTX 3080 Ti (which some call the RTX 3090, but may end up with a different name) with the same device ID but with 12GB of VRAM, again in line with the latest rumor mill (at least from one source – although others have pointed out that the graphics card can be loaded with much more VRAM, perhaps even a staggering 24GB).

These are the best graphics cards right now.
