Macbook security can be put between fairy tales in the case of this modified charger

Apple equipment is considered to be one of the safest on the market … at least for the consumer. In the vast majority of cases, this is indeed the case and the products produced by the company have proven their resistance to viruses, worms and malware many times. We can find here the interest of hackers who prefer to choose more popular platforms (see Linux), but this is a topic for a different material. In this, however, I would like to introduce you to a charger that makes fun of the Macbook’s security.

It was literally created by an artist of his trade, who introduces himself under the pseudonym “MG”. He revealed how he converted the traditional USB-C charger that most Apple devices use today. The creator removed most of the local electronics and put his own there, with programs that automatically start their adventure when connected to a computer. These later provide the fraudster with remote access to system resources… and more. In the case of this creator, we can praise his attitude – instead of sharing a detailed photo (which would be used by others to copy this method), he erased most of the laminate.

The bottom line, however, is that the hardware actually charges the connected hardware. So it is undetectable until something disturbing is noticed. The case should not be of special interest to us … unless we are looking for replacement chargers for our equipment. Who knows what is in those present at child and unauthorized online auctions? It also makes no sense to start lynching Apple, which, after all, cannot do anything about such attacks.
