Mining on the GeForce RTX 3050 does not pay off. Even despite the 8 GB VRAM

After the announcement of the GeForce RTX 3050, on the one hand, we could feel disappointment, and on the other, the chances of a cheap and efficient card. Disappointment due to the fact that 8 GB of memory on a 128-bit bus promised to be a connection that would prevent mining on the GeForce RTX 3050, and chances for the same reason in terms of gaming performance. Today it turned out that we can forget about this disappointment.

8 GB GDDR6 allows you to mine with the GeForce RTX 3050, but the card is so inefficient that it is unprofitable for miners

The GeForce RTX 3050 8 GB combines 8 GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus with the GA106 GPU, offering 2560 CUDA cores, 20 RT and 80 Tensor. Videocardz found out that this GPU comes with an LHR (Litle Hash Rate) block, which was confirmed by early tests in China, where the processing power of Ethereum mining after a few seconds dropped from 20 to 12 MH / s while maintaining consumption of only 73 watts.

Certain @wnxod in turn, managed to optimize this card to 13.66 MH / s at 57 watts, which does not seem like a great result for mining anyway, based on the prices of the respective platforms. Converting this into earnings assuming a price of PLN 1000, the return on investment from the RTX 3050 will take almost a year, but it is certain that it will be over PLN 1400, which extends the time to about 700 days … while maintaining the current Ethereum price. So chances are, miners won’t be stealing your graphics cards of this class.
