More than 500 illegal cryptocurrency farms have been shut down in Kyrgyzstan

The Central Asian state of Kyrgyzstan, bordering China (where “cryptocurrency miners” has been hunted for some time), has just boasted of closing over 500 illegal cryptocurrency farms.

Going into detail, it was announced by the SCNS, the Kyrgyz State National Security Committee (SCNS). The local 24.kg website reports that the authorities have closed over 500 illegal cryptocurrency farms so that they can no longer overload the national power grid. However, these were not simply expanded farms with a typical grid connection.

More than 500 mining farms illegally connected to power grids were revealed. It should be noted that the mining farms then lead to a shortage of electricity generated as one set of equipment consumes approximately 1500-3000 kilowatts per hour

Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly how big these farms were and whether they used ASICs or ordinary computers with graphics cards. However, their owners broke the law and were rightly punished, but they were not the only ones, because in May the Kyrgyz authorities took over all 2,000 cryptocurrency mining platforms. Today’s 500 farms may have a lot to do with the bans in China, which forced miners to move your business outside the country.
