Mozilla Firefox 99.0: here’s what’s new
Mozilla released Firefox 99.0 Stable, Firefox 91.8.0 ESR, and Firefox 99.0 for Android to the public on April 5, 2022. The new version includes security fixes, sandbox hardening on Linux devices, and support for autofill and credit card data capture. credit in Germany and France.
All development channels are also updated. Firefox Beta and Developer editions are updated to version 100.0 and Firefox Nightly is moved to 101.

Firefox 99.0 new features and improvements
Firefox on Linux includes an improved sandbox. The change limits the access of processes that are exposed to web content so that they no longer have access to the X Window System (X11).

- The credit card autofill and capture feature is available in Germany and France in the new version.
- The keyboard shortcut n toggles Narration in Reader Mode.
- Look for support with and without diacritics in the PDF viewer.

- navigator.pdfViewerEnabled is now enabled and is the recommended way to determine if a browser supports inline viewing of PDF files when navigating to them
- Firefox supports the RTCPeerConnection.setConfiguration() method now.
- The Network Information API is disabled by default on all platforms because it “exposes a significant amount of user information that could be used for fingerprinting.”

- Resolved an issue with Outlook Web Access that caused some fields to not work correctly.
- Fixed being able to install addons from addons.mozilla.org if install_sources in ExtensionSettings specified a different source.
Known issues
Gallery mode can be accessed in the Zoom web client in Firefox, but video may not always work with “gallery mode breakout rooms.” The issue can be resolved by leaving the room and re-entering.

Firefox 99 is the last major double-digit version of the browser. The next release is Firefox 100, which is due out on May 3, 2022 as scheduled. There is a chance that some site functionality could be broken, for example when sites incorrectly parse the Firefox user agent string. System administrators can use the network.http.useragent.forceVersion preference to keep the version in the user agent below 100.
