MSI announces the RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio: 4K at the highest levels at almost 1600 euros

The price was set at 1589, 500 and more than that of the reference version of AMD that we tried some time ago. Of course, the price today is the aspect on which to rely less when it comes to the video card, given the prevailing shortage, but still an aspect to consider. We are talking about the new one MSI RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio, solution custom based on the AMD flagship project.

The card has a certain size, equal to 324 x 141 x 55 mm (length, depth, height) for a weight of
almost 1.6 kilograms. Another aspect to consider are i three 8-pin power connectors. As for the frequencies, compared to the reference model
the Boost Clock rises from 2250 to 2340 MHz, while the Game Clock increases by 90 MHz from 2015 to 2105 MHz.

For the heatsink, MSI has applied the same fundamentals we’ve seen on other high-end cards, like the RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio or the RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio: we find the cooling system Tri Frozr 2 with three TorX 4.0 fans equipped with ball bearings. The fans are characterized by pairs of blades connected by an outer ring which, according to MSI, increases the air pressure up to 20% compared to previous TorX 3.0. The fans are also equipped with Zero Frozr technology to eliminate noise in the absence of load.

Under the fans there is a bulky radiator, but above the GPU there is a direct contact dissipating block, a solution that MSI calls “Core Pipe” as it is characterized by a denser set of grooves in order to better spread the heat along the entire block and then towards the radiator. The company claims an efficiency improvement of 50% compared to the previous “Oval Pipe” system. Obviously, as on other proposals, there are several thermal pads on memory, VRM and capacitors, and above all a backplate rear which gives further rigidity to the board.

All seasoned with RGB LEDs arranged in various areas, in order to satisfy the eyes too. Finally, in the back, here three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.1 which allows you to manage 4K at 120 Hz.
