Navi 24 ‘Beige Goby’, an RDNA 2 GPU stripped to the bone in AMD’s plans?

There is not only the Navi 23 GPU in AMD’s plans, but also Navi 24. If the former should give life to the Radeon RX 6600 offer, with the base model and the XT variant, Navi 24 should place itself in a even lower segment of the market, likely ending up on boards that will be renamed Radeon RX 6500 or 6400.

The last rumors in this regard we are told that the GPU would have a name the internal code name “Beige Goby“and it would be an RDNA 2 GPU with 16 Compute Units for a total of 1024 stream processors, half of the rumored 2048 SP of the Radeon RX 6600 XT. There is also talk of a bus to 64 bit. Number of cores aside, the GPU would have 128KB of L1 cache, 1MB of L2 cache, and 16 MB of Infinity Cache (LLC).

The latter figure is interesting because, according to past rumors, the GPUs below Navi 23 should not have had Infinity Cache. This will probably not be the case, but the special cache that works as a bandwidth amplifier will likely not be onboard the integrated RDNA 2 GPUs that we will see on the Van Gogh and Rembrandt APUs.

As for the availability of Navi 24, there is no concrete information yet and we are not surprised given that there is a lack of information on any future plans of AMD. For Navi 24, perhaps, we will have to wait until the third quarter. The only thing we know is that AMD will introduce dedicated RDNA 2 mobile GPUs for integration into gaming notebooks with AMD / Intel CPUs by the end of June.
