New Triton / L200 pickup from Mitsubishi

After many teasers for its new pickup, Mitsubishi has finally unveiled its Triton / L200, which will be available in Thailand on November 17th. Worldwide deliveries will be made over the coming weeks, so if you are interested in it, let’s jump right into the technical stuff.

Let’s start with the fact that the Triton / L200 is one of the most important cars on the global market for the company, as it is the fruit of the work of the last 40 years. This is to translate into durability, reliability and comfort unprecedented in the series. It combines the Dynamic Shield dashboard, a new four-wheel drive system, and active safety and power steering systems. In addition, there is a high-mounted engine unit, more spacious lamps and a specially sculpted body. Well, a teaser like any other, so it’s time to take a look at what the new Triton really has to offer.

The engine itself will be either a 2.4-liter gasoline unit with 126 horsepower or a TDI engine with 133 horsepower. The drive, however, is one of the least interesting issues in this case. What can I say – you cannot pass the Super-Select 4WD system without blinking an eye. This is because it will provide traction and control adapted to any surface, thanks to many driving modes supported by the Easy-Select 4WD steering wheel. The driveline will therefore ensure adequate traction by regulating the chance of skidding, thanks to dynamic changes in the transmission and brakes.

Safety issues are complemented by a ladder structure with a durable cabin, anti-collision systems, warning against blind spots and even reducing the number of knocks in the parking lot. All thanks to Misacceleration Ultrasonic, which prevents misuse of the accelerator pedal. Mitsubishi’s Triton / L200 is expected to produce at least 180,000 units this fiscal year.
