Nintendo Switch Pro specification, or a completely new generation? It’s a secret now

It seems that NVIDIA’s successful hacker attack also affected its partners. Among the disclosed confidential information was a mention of NVN2, which is allegedly a graphical API for the new console from Nintendo. Based on this, we can guess what the Nintendo Switch Pro specification will look like, because as the Switch is said to be “in the middle of its life cycle”, we will probably wait a while for the next-generation version.

The more leaks, the more uncertainty. What is Nintendo preparing? This is one big unknown at the moment

Of course, playing speculating on the basis of leaks is like drawing from a large set of probabilities, so take the following information with a grain of salt. Especially since they really come down to NVIDIA documents dated 2019, which may relate to the company’s general operations, i.e. even those projects that have been canceled or rebuilt. The uncertainty is intensified against the background of rumors about the complete cancellation of the Switch Pro version for a truly next-generation Switch, to which the following SoCs could actually be directed.

Anyway, according to the latest information, NVIDIA is preparing two custom SoC chips (T234 and T239) based on the Orin project, codenamed with the letter D for Nintendo. It is said that the T239 is to finally hit the new console and support both Ray Tracing and DLSS technology, i.e. real-time scaling technology that significantly improves the smoothness of games.

While the SoC T234 will feature 2048 CUDA GPU cores based on the Ampere architecture and twelve 64-bit ARM Cortex-A78AE (Hercules) cores, the T239 will offer a slightly different, unknown specification.
