Video Games Chronicle found an interesting application in one of Nintendo’s recent applications to the FCC, pointing to a classic Switch controller. We are talking about something like a modern replica similar to the N64 controller, i.e. this “three-pronged pad” from almost a quarter of a century ago.
The N64 replica is coming? There are chances for a classic Switch controller
Nintendo’s application to the Federal Communications Commission is required for devices that will rely on a wireless signal. This in turn clearly indicates that this putative controller, named HAC-043, would be wireless. We can also be sure about its connection with Switch, because the earlier one (HAC-042) is a controller intended for the SNES Nintendo console released in 2019.

This is definitely not a new variant of the Joy-Con, as this controller can be plugged directly into the Switch’s AC adapter for charging. The simple diagram in the form of two rectangles attached to the application does not say much in theory, only indicating where the labels will be located. Unfortunately, the rest of the documentation is classified as Nintendo requested a six-month confidentiality period, which in turn suggests the release date of this new controller.

There are chances that Nintendo, together with this alleged replica of the N64 controller, will also introduce games from Game Boy, Game Boy Colors and N64 to the Switch. However, these are just rumors.
