Not all RDD2 based AMD graphics will support Ray-Tracing, only higher models

According to the latest rumors, AMD will follow the same steps Nvidia took with Turing graphics, and It will only deploy ray-tracing hardware on the top models of its new RDNA 2-based line.

With this strategia, AMD plans to compete against GeForce RTX with dedicated top-performance graphics with hardware Ray-Tracing, and compete against the GTX 16 Series with smaller graphics and high energy efficiency thanks to the use of 7nm +. Failure to place Ray-Tracing cores on graphics that will still not have enough power to achieve 60 FPS in 1080p with ray-tracing enabled will help to significantly reduce the size of the DIE, and obviously reduce costs to be more competitive.

Without a doubt this is an excellent strategy by AMD, offering proposals for all segments, with and without ray-tracing, and at all points of price and consumption. This is something that AMD failed in the past, by not competing in full range against Nvidia, but which it will finally achieve in 2020. Added to the arrival of Intel on the market for dedicated GPUs, the next few years will undoubtedly be more than interesting. for enthusiasts.

Looking forward to seeing AMD's new RDNA2 graphics? Are you interested in Ray-Tracing support or are you not planning to use it?
