now in black and with RGB

Adapt or die. The fashion of the RGB lighting Even in the soup is something that has been in the hardware world for years, and practically all manufacturers have adopted it. For its part, the Japanese Scythe has remained throwing his heatsinks with the same designs as always, minimalist, sober and without additives, aware that those who buy their products do it for their performance and not because of its aesthetics.

However it seems that now things are changing, since they have just launched a new version of their famous Mugen 5 heatsink with a new aesthetic design, as they have incorporated a black metal sheet on top (not so in the rest of the body of the heatsink) and, the included fan, now has RGB lighting.

The new Scythe Mugen 5 Black RGB Edition

It's the same Mugen 5 as always but a little prettier. At least it is for the anodized black top sheet that really suits her aesthetics, and although perhaps only with this it would have been valid, we do not understand why they have not also painted the rest of the heatsink black.

This black metal plate located at the top contrasts with the "rivets" of the heatpipes of the heatsink and with the brand logo, which remain with the usual silver color of the brand. For the rest, as we said, it is the same high performance heatsink as always (now we talk about the fan), compatible with all current desktop processor sockets with the exception of AMD TR4 and that provides outstanding performance, as it is capable of dissipating up to 220W of heat

In this case, the greatest novelty lies in its new 120mm Kaze Flex fan, mounted on anti-vibration moorings for quiet operation and operating at a speed of between 300 and 1200 RPM with PWM control, thus ensuring that even at maximum speed, the heatsink will emit very little noise. This fan has RGB lighting through a dedicated head to connect to the motherboard, and its control will be done from the software of the same because it is compatible with the RGB ecosystem of the main manufacturers, such as ASUS Aura Sync or ASRock Polychrome Sync.

The new Scythe Mugen 5 Black RGB Edition will arrive in stores shortly (they have said it is already available, but it will actually take a few days or weeks to reach the stores) at a recommended price of 47 euros (VAT not included).
