NVIDIA RTX 40 could arrive with GDDR7 memory

Moore’s Law is Dead has published some substantial information about NVIDIA’s future GeForce RTX 40 Ada Lovelace lineup of GPUs. The new rumors range from launch, to performance details, to possible models the green team will offer later this year.

Most of the information that MLID has shared is something that we have already been talking about in recent months and, more recently, in the NVIDIA leak, which revealed not only the names of the GPUs, but also the exact configuration that this new GPU will have. GPU line.

But the most interesting thing that Moore’s Law is Dead mentions is that their sources seem to be reporting the inclusion of GDDR7 memory. inside Ada Lovelace GPUs. The weird thing about all this is that NVIDIA is still not offering the maximum speed that GDDR6X has which is 24Gbps as the upcoming RTX 3090 Ti is expected to use only 21Gbps G6X modules so there is still some extra power left. in the memory standard. This is likely to be like future proofing by NVIDIA where they might initially offer Ada Lovelace Rev.1 with GDDR6X memory and move to GDDR7 with an Ada Lovelace Rev.2 upgrade, perhaps RTX 40 SUPER.

It is expected that GDDR7 memory offers transfer speeds of up to 32 Gbps along with real-time error protection technology. We would see basic GDDR7 memory configurations over a 256-bit wide bus interface at 32Gbps transfer speeds will offer 1TB/s of bandwidth. And up to 1.5 TB/s with a 384-bit bus interface and up to 2 TB/s on a 512-bit system.

GDDR7 memory specifications:

This is an incredible amount of bandwidth for a GDDR standard.
