The use of bone conduction in audio devices is nothing new, and although according to many it does not work at all, there are still companies that are stuck in the process. One of them is Orange Amplification, which has just introduced the world to the O Bones kit now available on the market for £ 79.
O Bones bone conduction headphones, the latest work of Orange Amplification
Bone conduction headphones are nothing new to this British company. In fact, About Bones is just an extension of its offering with another model. This one is waterproof, offers voice assistant support, thanks to the built-in microphone when paired with a smartphone, and comes down to a slightly archaic neckband. The company, however, believes it provides a much better fit and increases overall comfort.

In practice, O Bones rest on the bones just above the ears of the user through soft rubber cushions. They connect to the sound source via Bluetooth 5.0 and even support the AAC codec, which should slightly increase the quality of the 16-mm drivers. According to the manufacturer, these may not match the quality of traditional headphones, but they are designed to provide “bass you can feel and hear, crystal clear midrange and sharp, well-defined highs at surprisingly high volume”. On the energy side, these 32 grams of O Bones headphones draw power from a 180mAh lithium-ion battery that provides up to eight hours of use on a single charge.
