Hello everyone!

Noctua recently launched new A series fans, the NF-A4x10 5V, NF-A9 (PWM / FLX / ULN) and NF-A8 (PWM / FLX)! Used to offering high-end and silent products, Noctua decides to change the old NF-B9 and NF-R8 series, which are aging, I will present the replacements to you!

The 6 fans in this presentation all have the latest SSO2 Bearing, giving an average life of over 150,000 hours, which should ensure excellent resistance over time.
The NF-A4x10 5V is a bit the foreigner of this table with its miniature size of 4 cm sides and 1 cm thick it is the exact copy of the NF-A4x10 (tested here) but in 5V version.
The NF-A8 series is more classic with a rotation speed ranging from 1400 RPM for the ULN model to 2200 RPM for the PWM model, consumption does not exceed 1 Watt (0.96 to be precise) this which is really excellent.
Likewise the NF-A9 have rather classic characteristics, from 1600 RPM for the FLX version to 2000 RPM for the PWM version and a consumption of up to 1.2 Watt.
Regarding the price it is rather high for this type of fan but as usual with Noctua the quality of the materials, the workmanship, the robustness and the silence of operation should make us forget this somewhat.

NF-A4x10 5V

The box is in all points identical to other Noctua fans, sober and with the main characteristics at the front and a small summary at the back of what the NF-A4x10 offers as well as the detailed technical characteristics.

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 NF-A4x10 5V fan
  • 4 vis
  • 4 anti-vibration rubber mounts
  • 1 3-pin -> 2-pin adapter
  • 1 3-pin extension of 30 cm
  • 1 Omnijoin adapter

As usual the bundle is more than complete, in addition to the adapters and extension cords used at Noctua the OmniJoin adapter will allow you to connect this fan directly to the cables of the old fan it replaces, again a very good point!

Always the same colors at Noctua, the NF-A4x10 5V is no exception! The build quality is excellent as usual, the fan despite its small size is very solid, the presence of anti-vibration pads in each corner will help with the vibrations.

NF-A8 ULN FLX et PWM

As usual the boxes are sober and show the main characteristics!

NF-A8 ULN

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 NF-A8 ULN fan
  • 4 vis
  • 4 anti-vibration rubber mounts
  • 1 4-pin Molex -> 3-pin adapter
  • 1 3-pin extension of 30 cm
  • 1 LNA adapter (1100 RPM)

An ultra complete bundle as usual, extension cord, anti-vibration mounts and various adapters, it goes without saying that there will undoubtedly be no problem during assembly!

From Noctua as usual the NF-A8 series is equipped with all the latest technologies of the brand (AAO frame, Stepped Inlet etc .. more information here), the build quality and the materials used are of course excellent!

NF-A8 FLX

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 NF-A8 FLX fan
  • 4 vis
  • 4 anti-vibration rubber mounts
  • 1 4-pin Molex -> 3-pin adapter
  • 1 3-pin extension of 30 cm
  • 1 LNA adapter (1650 RPM)
  • 1 adaptateur ULNA (1200 RPM)

The NF-A8 FLX bundle is identical to the ULN but with the addition of an ULNA adapter which will lower the fan to 1200 RPM, everything is really studied at Noctua to satisfy the greatest number!

Identical in every way to the NF-A8 ULN, the only thing that sets them apart is the label on the back.

NF-A8 PWM

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 NF-A8 PWM fan
  • 4 vis
  • 4 anti-vibration rubber mounts
  • 1 4-pin extension of 30 cm
  • 1 LNA adapter (1750 RPM)
  • 1 adapter 2 x 4-pin -> 1 x 4-pin

We switch to the PWM version of the NF-A8 and therefore with the bundle that goes with it, 4-pin extension, 4-pin LNA adapter as well as a very practical Y adapter for connecting 2 fans to the same connector.

We use the same ones and we recommend, identical to the other NF-A8s except for the wiring in 4 strands, PWM obliges!

NF-A9 FLX et PWM

No need for drawing I think now! The boxes are identical to the other models of the brand except of course for the characteristics!

NF-A9 FLX

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 NF-A9 FLX fan
  • 4 vis
  • 4 anti-vibration rubber mounts
  • 1 3-pin extension of 30 cm
  • 1 LNA adapter (1250 RPM)
  • 1 adaptateur ULNA (1050 RPM)
  • 1 Molex 4-pin adapter -> 1 x 3-pin

Complete bundle not to change, the NF-A9 FLX will adapt to all configurations without the slightest problem!

The NF-A9 FLX is identical to the NF-A8 series but with 1.2 cm more side, all the latest technologies are of course used (AAO frame, Stepped Inlet etc. more information here) and the quality manufacturing is not lacking in Noctua usually commits!

NF-A9 PWM

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 ventilateur NF-A9 PWM
  • 4 vis
  • 4 anti-vibration rubber mounts
  • 1 4-pin extension of 30 cm
  • 1 LNA adapter (1550 RPM)
  • 1 adapter 2 x 4-pin -> 1 x 4-pin

Bundle at the top with an extension, a Y adapter, an LNA adapter and all the necessary screws!

Same as NF-A9 FLX except for 4-pin PWM wiring.

Attention : Part to be taken with a grain of salt, unfortunately not having access to the appropriate equipment and using an android application to take the readings the measurements below are only indicative! The readings were taken 15cm from the fan.

The fan that scared me the most was the tiny NF-A4x10 5V, a 4cm fan which, spinning at 4500 RPM, gave me earache even before plugging it in, but in the end it turns out to be extremely quiet with 38dB. , very good for Noctua which will finally be able to reconcile you with your devices using fans of this size.
The NF-A8 series also performed very well, the quietest being the ULN version (1400RPM) with its 34 dB maximum, the PWM and FLX versions are a little noisier with 45 dB, n ‘ let’s not forget that these readings are taken 15cm from the fan so it goes up very quickly!
The NF-A9 on the other hand vary between 40 dB for the FLX and 49 dB for the PWM, the difference of 400RPM is clearly heard, but let’s not forget that the PWM version will be managed by the motherboard and therefore should not be it makes sense not to reach its maximum unless you have insufficient airflow in the tower.

Note that at 5V almost all the fans are silent and should blend in without any problems with the general noise of the PC, the other components of the PC will undoubtedly be noisier.
The noise pollution produced is neutral, no noise coming from the engine, no clicking, the vibrations are very well absorbed by the anti-vibration pads and the whole is ultimately very pleasant to the ear!

Here we are at the end of this little presentation of the new NF-A series from Noctua, as usual the products have a first-rate finish, the materials used exude quality and noise pollution is very contained. The bundles are once again at the height of Noctua products offering everything you need (and even more) to connect them with peace of mind.
The prices are up to the quality of the fans ranging from € 12.90 for the NF-A4x10 5V to € 17.90 for the NF-A9 but this is the price to pay to have excellent fans guaranteed for 6 years!

The +

  • Build quality
  • Silence
  • Warranty 6ans
  • SAV Noctua

A big thank you to Jakob from Noctua who allowed me to make this presentation.
