Radeon RX 6500 XT and 6400, two new entry-level RDNA 2 models coming?

The Japanese leaker KOMACHI_ENSAKA and the site Videocardz report that shortly the offer of AMD video cards architecture-based RDNA 2 it should expand with two models called Radeon RX 6500 XT e RX 6400, both based on the new Navi GPU 24 and equipped with 4GB of GDDR6 memory.

Navi 24 is a chip that has been talked about for many months, even recently. According to what has been managed to rebuild, the GPU on board the Radeon RX 6500 XT should boast 16 Compute Unit for a total of 1024 stream processor, accounting for 50% of the Navi 23 cores, the heart of the Radeon RX 6600 XT. There should be 16MB of Infinity Cache on board and the memory bus could go down to only 64 bit. Memory should be set to 14 Gbps.

The Radeon RX 6400, on the other hand, should have only 12 Active Compute Units for a maximum of 768 stream processor and for that it shouldn’t require a PCIe power connector, which the RX 6500 XT could.

Both cards will support ray tracing and will be marketed as proposals for Full HD gaming, albeit with reduced details and not in all games. The performance should still be superior to the integrated graphics of APUs such as the Ryzen 7 5700G (proof here). For this reason, the two cards could be successful in the world of Asian internet cafes.

As for the debut, perhaps we will know more at CES 2022 in Las Vegas in early January, where AMD is expected to present the new Ryzen CPUs for desktops and notebooks. For now we are talking hypothetically about an arrival in the first quarter of 2022. It is not to be excluded, indeed it is probable, that Navi 24 will also arrive in the form of a mobile solution to compete in the low-end of the notebook market for multimedia and casual gaming.
