Canalys has released a report on smartphone manufacturers with the largest share of sales in China in the third quarter of this year. The Honor brand climbed to third place, noting a 25% increase in sales after separating from Huawei.

Honor goes up – smartphone sales in China in 3Q2021

According to the Canalys report, vivo had the largest share in the sales of smartphones on the Chinese market, strengthening its position by selling 18.3 million units, which translates into 23% of total sales in the country. Oppo came second with 16.5 million copies sold. However, Honor recorded a huge increase, which clearly shows that the departure from Huawei has paid off. For the first time, the brand was in the top three. The premiere of the flagship 50 series, as well as Play 20 or X20, also contributed to such an increase in sales of Honor brand devices. Then we have Xiaomi, Apple and other manufacturers.

However, despite this, overall smartphone sales in China fell, and manufacturers who found themselves in the ‘other’ section saw their deliveries fall by more than half compared to the same period in 2020.

The overall decline in sales in China was 5%. This was due to chip shortages as well as supply chain problems.
