Ribble wanted to create the fastest bike in the world. The result is the Ultra SL R

Ribble’s three years of work on the Ultra SL R have just been completed, and their result is the alleged fastest bike in the world, the development of which you can see in detail in the official Ultra Development PDF document. The most important comes down to the frame itself, at a price of about PLN 17250, while the price of bicycles ranges from PLN 19 to 32 thousand.

The aforementioned 3-year effort of the company was reduced to grinding the aerodynamic profile of the Ultra SL R, which was carried out mainly in the wind tunnel and on the track. All this to create the world’s fastest road bike with time, which impresses with its aerodynamics and handles air resistance perfectly. At least according to the manufacturer.

Ribble mentions that compared to its previous flagship, the Ultra SL R saves 75 seconds over a distance of 40 km at an average speed of 35 km / h and crosswinds of 5 to 10 degrees. The previous flagship was the Endurance SL R, which was to some extent a model for new products, but one that was completely reworked.

Taking care of the lowest possible air resistance began with the handlebar, which is the first element that is measured with it in the case of a bicycle. For this purpose, it has been redesigned, using atypical brake levers. To further reduce this drag, Ribble gave the frame a shape that guides the airflow around the rider, which reportedly reduced drag by 2.1 for the bike and rider. However, this is just the tip of the project’s iceberg.
