RTX Voice is the best Nvidia Turing feature, nothing to do with gaming!

Opinion: Nvidia RTX Voice saves lives.

When you think of Nvidia Turing graphics cards like the RTX 2080, the first thing that comes to your mind is ray tracing and the best PC games – but what if you could track the waves of your voice?

Team Green just launched the beta version of RTX Voice and is arguably the best you can do with Nvidia graphics cards.

The idea is simple: use the AI processing power of Nvidia’s Tensor Cores to block out any background noise, be it the sound from your speakers or the output of your microphone.

And while millions of people work from home, including us, the noise-cutting feature is truly a godsend. The only potential issue is that this handy software requires an Nvidia RTX graphics card. There is a potential workaround, but since we haven’t tested it yet, we can’t recommend it.

What we really tested was RTX Voice technology. We tested this feature with streaming games from Twitch, chatting on Discord with the family, and even in conferences.

We’re talking about a professional tool here, okay?

| GAMING PC OR BUSINESS?

One of the most convenient things about working from home is that we can use a home PC for work, a PC equipped with extremely powerful components like the Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB of RAM, and most importantly, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

So, when we heard that RTC Voice is already here and can use the capabilities of the graphics card in a way that is really productive, we showed all our interest.

If you want to give it a try, you can download the client at this Nvidia sitefollowing simple instructions. It took us perhaps five minutes to get ready, after which we were completely ready to go.

Once you start your computer, you will need to configure the Nvidia RTX Voice input signal using the sound settings in whatever application you intend to use. Keep in mind that we are dealing with an early beta version, so not all apps are compatible. However, we were able to use RTX Voice in almost every program we wanted to try out, including Discord, Google Hangouts, Zoom, and OBS, setting up Windows 10 sound under Nvidia RTX Voice meant some apps were silent.

But hey, the feature works across all the teleconferencing and streaming apps we’re using right now – that’s a lot, so we consider the ongoing support an achievement.

| CLEAR PERFORMANCE

Immediately after loading RTX Voice, we did what any normal person would do, loaded Audacity and started making keyboard noise while talking.

Here’s the wonderful part: it works exactly as promised, at the highest expectations. Not only the sound of the keyboard disappeared during a conversation, but also all the background noise, and our office is located in the center of the city, the noise of which has simply disappeared.

Then it was time for a video call to the family with active RTX Voice support and, despite the amazing noise canceling performance, we noted that the voice got louder with active RTX Voice – a small price to pay.

Nevertheless, we held a sea of video conferences, where we heard sirens in the background, keyboard sounds and even pets, and those generally know how to make a huge variety of sound. This kind of software is really a godsend.

What’s really cool? You can enable RTX Voice for incoming audio. In today’s meeting, we used RTX Voice and all distracting noises disappeared from both our side and the other part of our call. This not only led to improved sound quality, but also increased focus on what was happening, since we were not distracted by ambient noise.

| IS IT WORTH DOWNLOADING RTX VOICE?

If you have a computer with RTX graphics that you use to work, RTX Voice is an absolute must-have. The clarity of your voice and the voices of others will ensure a comfortable conference in both directions, especially if you live in a noisy environment.

Downloading, enabling and configuring the software has proven to be a completely painless process, so even if the product remains in beta testing, we recommend it to anyone with the appropriate hardware.

If you don’t have a suitable graphics card, out of luck. We have already said that there is a workaround if you have an Nvidia graphics card, but not from the RTX series, however, we have not tested it, so we can not give recommendations in this direction.

All we want to say is that if you feel interested in tinkering with some files, this option is open to you. Just keep in mind that any graphics card will not work for you here either. RTX Voice reportedly works well on Pascal and newer graphics cards, so Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD graphics cards will cause problems.

In any case, in our experience, RTX Voice is a workaholic’s dream come true. We plan to use this feature in all conferences that we have to go through, and will encourage our colleagues to do the same.

And if that convinced you to finally upgrade your graphics card, we understand you perfectly.

Here are the best graphics cards of 2020.
