A recent example of testing the Ryzen 9 5950X on A320 confirmed that Ryzen 5000 processors on 300 chipsets make sense. Back then, we wondered why it was only A320 boards that got the proper BIOSes to ensure this compatibility, but now we can stop. ASRock has been ahead of the competition by making the Ryzen 5000 processors on the X370 run, thanks to an official update.
The confusion with the compatibility of the new AMD processors with AM4 motherboards with the 300 series chipsets has actually been going on since the launch of the Ryzen 5000. All because AMD blocked this support due to the limitations of the BIOS chips on them, but the manufacturers tried to get around this limitation somehow. Now ASRock has done this with the X370 Pro 4 motherboard, which requires an official BIOS update to do so.

This one provides support for Renoir and Vermeer processors, while removing compatibility with Bristol Ridge. At the moment, it is not known what AMD will say about such a move, but according to ASRock, it really depends on the “Reds”. In a way, this suggests the lifting of artificial restrictions imposed by AMD, which probably want to protect customers’ equipment from possible problems.
