Season One is delayed until early summer

Battlefield 2042

If things seemed like they couldn’t get any worse with Battlefield 2042, today Electronic Arts has revealed that the release of Season One has been delayed until early summer, so it won’t be until then when new specialists and locations are added. According to the company, this has been necessary to address other higher priority issues, how to continue patching the game. To please users, they will be offered some skins or a new knife. Which can not be consoled, it is because you do not want.

This news comes in a moment where the game is already considered dead, to the point that the game already has an average of less than 5,000 simultaneous players coming days to touch the barrier of the 3,000, and rumors of the game becoming free-to-play are also returning, although the latest rumors indicate that it would only be some modes of the Battlefield 2042 Portal.

You’ve been waiting patiently for us to tell you what we’re going to do to resolve the issues in Battlefield 2042 you’ve been telling us about and where we’re going in the coming months. Today we want to reiterate our team’s commitment to bringing the game up to the standards we have for the franchise.

We have heard you. And we’re committed and determined to invest in the future of Battlefield 2042. We’re working to take action on multiple fronts based on your feedback and implement big fixes to the game, add key features for you, and make team play work the way it should.

We’ve had to make several big decisions to ensure that the next set of updates can focus on delivering these improvements. The biggest one will be moving the release date of the first season to early summer. This decision will give us time to focus on improving the Battlefield 2042 experience and polishing the development of our seasonal content to make sure it all meets our quality standard.

UPCOMING UPDATES

This is a summary of the features we want to bring to the game as soon as possible:

  • CLASSIFICATION– With the next update, we’ll add an updated leaderboard, along with various changes we’ve been working on since Christmas. This will be an ongoing evolution from the work in progress we shared recently. We’ve heard your feedback about including two tables and separating your own team from the enemies, and we’re working on incorporating it at launch. E/M scoring will also be coming in a future update.
  • VOICE COMMUNICATION ON ALL PLATFORMS– The arrival of voice communication (VoIP) is just the beginning of the improvements we’re bringing to strengthen team play and communications.
  • PLAYER PROFILE: It will give you a better summary of your career on the battlefield and how much you have left until the next unlock.

For team play, you can expect a much clearer and more precise patrol gameplay loop, a refined marking system, and an improved reward loop when chasing the target with your squads. Weapon gameplay will continue to receive improvements based on your feedback.

Battlefield Portal remains an integral part of the game and we will continue to expand its tools and modes and adjust experience gain. Finally, we have a team analyzing the specialists and working on them. We cannot yet talk about the actions we are going to take, but we will let you know as soon as possible.

We will continue to report future updates via the @BattlefieldComm Twitter account. You can also stay up to date with our known issue tracking and changes we may make in real time on our Battlefield forums.

We are committed to making sure that Battlefield 2042 lives up to our ambitions and your expectations. It is a task we are determined to accomplish.
