Manufacturers of televisions and monitors are fighting over resolutions. After 4K has become popular, it’s time to start the attack on 8K resolution. The first manufacturer to present this type of equipment is Sharp.
It presented a 27-inch monitor with 120 Hz refresh, 8K (7680 x 4320) and HDR. This setup can kill your graphics card. It requires more processing power than setting up three 4K 60Hz monitors! Playing it at 120 FPS at maximum resolution is currently impossible – it is not even known whether the next generation GPU (talking about single cards) will be able to handle it. Additionally, HDR will make the displayed image look even better.
Of course what you see is a prototype. When will it go into production and at what price will it be? This is not known yet.
