Sony’s ‘Xbox Game Pass’ comes at a starting price of €13.99 per month

PlayStation has not eaten the head for the name of its new subscription platform for games, we are talking about Playstation Pluswhich now offers a service in the purest style Xbox Game Passthat is, paying a monthly subscription in exchange for hundreds of games that you can download and enjoy on your console.

Summarizing the information, the most basic service is the PlayStation Plus Essential. By €8.99 per month / $9.99 per month (or €/$59.99 per year) you have access to the same PlayStation Plus that already exists todayCome on, trash.

If you scratch your pocket a bit and pay 13,99€/$14.99 per month (99.99€/$ per year), is added a catalog of up to 400 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games.

If everything goes well for you and you want to treat yourself, you already have the PlayStation Plus Premium by 16,99€/$17.99 per month or €/$119.99 per year, to which are added 340 additional games, many of them from PlayStation 3 via streaming. Also added are classic PlayStation 2, Playstation 1 and PSP games, and streaming access to PlayStation 1/2/4 and PSP games (depending on market).

This subscription offers the possibility of trying games outside the platform so that they can try it before they buy. Our main goal is to offer select high-quality content with a wide variety of games*. The three subscription levels are summarized below:

PLAYSTATION PLUS ESSENTIAL

• Advantages:
  • It includes the same advantages that PlayStation Plus currently offers, that is:
    • Two downloadable games per month
    • exclusive discounts
    • Cloud storage for game saves
    • Access to online multiplayer
  • PlayStation Plus subscription will not change for members at this level.
• The prices* of the PlayStation Plus Essential level will not change from the current PlayStation Plus service.
  • Europe
    • €8.99 per month / €24.99 per quarter / €59.99 per year

PLAYSTATION PLUS EXTRA

• Advantages:
  • Includes all the benefits of the Essential level
  • Add a catalog of up to 400* of the best PS4 and PS5 titles, including blockbusters from our PlayStation Studios catalog and third-party developer partners. In the Extra level, the games are downloadable.

  • Europe
    • €13.99 per month / €39.99 per quarter / €99.99 per year

PLAYSTATION PLUS PREMIUM**

• Advantages:
  • Includes all the benefits of the Essential and Extra levels
  • Add up to 340* more games, including:
    • PS3 Titles Available via Cloud Streaming
    • A catalog of popular classics, available to stream and download from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP
  • Cloud streaming of original PlayStation, PS2, PSP and PS4 games is offered in Extra and Premium tiers in markets** where PlayStation Now is currently available. Users can stream games from PS4 and PS5 consoles or PC***.
  • This tier also includes access to limited-time game trials so players can try certain games before purchasing.

    • €16.99 per month / €49.99 per quarter / €119.99 per year

The new Extra and Premium levels represent a huge evolutionary step for PlayStation Plus. With these levels, our goal is to make sure that the hundreds of games we offer include the best quality content that we are known for. From launch, we intend to include titles like Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal.

We’re working closely with our creative developers at PlayStation Studios and third-party studios to bring the best gaming experiences available through a regularly updated library. We will be sharing more information about the games available through the new PlayStation Plus service.

With the launch of the new PlayStation Plus service, PlayStation Now will be integrated into the new PlayStation Plus and will no longer be available as a standalone service. Subscriptions of PlayStation Now users will be upgraded to the PlayStation Plus Premium level at no additional cost until the renewal date of the old service, when the new corresponding rate will be applied. Users of both services, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, will migrate to a single service that will correspond to the PlayStation Plus Premium level. In the case of only having PlayStation Plus active, it will remain at the PlayStation Plus Essential level.

Since this transition is a huge effort, we will gradually roll out the new PlayStation Plus service in different regions. Taking June as a baseline, we will start with an initial launch in various markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered. We intend to update most PlayStation Network territories with the new PlayStation Plus gaming subscription service by the end of the first half of 2022. We also want to bring the cloud streaming advantage to new markets, and we will share more information about it later.

With the new PlayStation Plus, we seek to offer an engaging gaming subscription service with select content from our exclusive team at PlayStation Studios and our third-party developer partners. The new and improved PlayStation Plus will allow our fans to discover and enjoy more content than ever before, as well as strengthen their connection to the PlayStation community through shared experiences.
