ST-X breaks stereotypes by offering a racing variant of the Urus SUV

ST-X łamie stereotypy oferując wyścigowy wariant Urus SUV

How often do you get a glimpse of a sports SUV? Athletic, probably often, but a full-blooded man that was designed with a sporty character in mind? What can I say, it is not a common sight, because it is difficult to imagine a “sports SUV”, because in theory these two terms do not go hand in hand. Lamborghini has now fought to break these stereotypes.

ST-X is the latest concept of this concern, which draws handfuls from the Urus car from 2017, which is why many say that it is not worth receiving the company’s logo. This is due to the elements characteristic of SUVs, i.e. weight, size and the style itself, which simply does not match the sporty character. However, this is taken care of by hexagonal air intakes, less ground clearance and something as prosaic as the look itself, which is downright aggressive. This translates to the equipment itself, which includes hexagonal exhaust tips under the rear doors, a roof spoiler, Pirelli tires on 21-inch rims and a fully-fledged interior. This combination simply makes the ST-X suitable for both the track and the “normal” means of transport to work.

The weight of the concept is still a mystery, though Lamborghini has revealed that the carbon fiber combined with the rest of the changes did its job. As a result, the ST-X is 25% lighter than the regularly produced Urus, which weighs almost 2,200 kilograms. The company’s plan, however, includes reducing this weight even lower, to around 1,600 kg. However, the concern “borrowed” the power unit from “brother Urus”, opting for a 4-liter V8 engine, providing power of about 650 horsepower, coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Most importantly, however, the ST-X will not remain in the concept sphere, as it will enter the track in tournaments in 2020, possibly launching a new series of Lamborghini cars.
