Tesla, the electric vehicle development company owned by Elon Musk, is recalling nearly 130,000 vehicles across the United States. The reason for the repairs would be an issue of overheating of the Ryzen APUs that equip some models of the company and that could cause problems in the user experience.
One of the possible problems causing overheating would be during the battery preconditioning process. of the vehicle while driving or during the fast charging process, the cooling system is diverted to these areas. This leaves the Ryzen APUs a bit to the side.
To resolve the issue, Tesla has been sending users firmware updates since May 3. System updates, in theory, should fix overheating CPUs used in the vehicle’s infotainment center.
According to Tesla’s recall message, overheating of the APUs in the vehicle could cause system slowdowns or even CPU resets. This would affect the operation of the reversing camera, gear selection, windshield visibility control settings and warning lightsincreasing the risk of an accident, describes the note.
However, there has been no detailed official explanation of what could be causing the processors in Tesla vehicles to overheat.
This is not the first time that Tesla has asked to withdraw vehicles from the market to solve some problems. This also happened in 2021. However, generally speaking, the situations are resolved by software updates.
