Test – Alphacool Eisblock XPX
| Specs | Price

Hi everyone!

We are returning to Alphacool today with their latest product, a small waterblock! The custom water-cooling market is gaining ground and the products are very varied, the most important thing, however, to have top performance is to have a good water block. To allow you to get out of the mass Alphacool has decided to go for great personalization, in fact the aluminum plate which covers the waterblock as well as the attachment system are available in several colors (interchangeable) and the logo lights up under power. Offered at a price of € 69.95 let’s see what’s in it!

The Eisblock XPX from Alphacool is currently available in black and silver (other models will most certainly be available later), the plate on the top is interchangeable and in aluminum, it is this which will allow you to change the color. at convenience. The brand logo will light up when the 3-pin connector is connected to the motherboard (or to the power supply directly via an adapter, not supplied).
the dimensions are rather substantial with a square of 6.5 cm on the side and 3 cm in height, enough to install on all types of processors without the slightest problem. The Eiblock XPX is compatible with all sockets on the market, ranging from 1065 to 2011 (-3) at Intel, even the old 775 is in the game. At AMD it’s the same fight, AMx as well as FMx, even the future AM4 is present in the compatibility list.
Offered at a recommended price of € 69.95, the waterblock from Alphacool is positioned in the mid-range.

The box could not be more sober, like all the brand’s products, there is a photo of the beast in its 2 colors, the name of the model and the small logo of the brand.

Inside we find the manual, itself placed on the rest of the bundle, the waterblock itself is in a foam mold which will allow it to survive transport in the slightest problem.

At the level of the bundle there is of course everything you need to allow the installation of the waterblock, the screws, Intel and AMD mounting plate, the manual of course as well as a small sachet of Gelid GX-Extreme thermal paste.

Here is the beast seen from above! As we can see the sobriety is required here, the top is in aluminum and painted in black, of very good quality. The brand logo will light up when powered on. Note that there is no indication of the direction of connection directly on the cover, this is marked at the bottom when looking in the holes, at least there will be no “IN” and “OUT” Unsightly directly visible.

The thickness at all is quite contained, even if we have already seen thinner, but with 3.5 cm there will be no compatibility issues with the components of the motherboard anyway.

A protection is placed on the surface in contact with the processor, it will be necessary to be careful to remove it before putting in place the waterblock, this happens more often than we would like to admit 😉

The surface benefits from a mirror treatment, the contact with the processor will therefore logically be very good.

The 3-pin cable that is used to power the logo LEDs is black is braided, of good quality.

In order to test the waterblock in good conditions, the brand also sent me their very latest radiator, the Eisbrecher Pro 240, supposed to be very efficient thanks to several filters which retain the air longer and equalize the pressure through the fins . The build quality is as usual with the brand excellent, there is really nothing to say about it. Also note that the logo lights up on each side, thanks to a 3-pin cable.
