Test – Antec HCG Gold 750

Introduction

Hi everyone!

At the start of the year, I tested the new EarthWatts Gold Pro from Antec, a model which was largely inspired by the Seasonic Focus which it shares internal components, an excellent unit therefore which has an excellent quality / price ratio. .
Today the brand returns with new models of its HCG series, or “High Current Gamer” which now dates a lot of years, it was time to clean up there. The new series is therefore called HCG Gold, therefore certified 80Plus Gold, as one might have suspected!
The Antec HCG Gold are offered in different powers, 650, 750 and 850 Watts with prices ranging from 99 to 129 €. Today I am going to present the 750 Watts version to you, which is offered at a price of 109 €, let’s take a closer look!

Buying guide – Which power supply for its configuration? May 2018

Unpacking and presentation

The front of the box is quite sober, with a mixture of black gray and yellow which does not hurt the eyes. We find there the logo of the mark of course, the power of the block, the logo 80Plus Gold as well as a list of the strong points (high-end capacitors, 10 years of guarantee, efficiency of 92% etc ..).
The brand makes a point of writing well GAMER basically to be sure to know who we are talking to here!

At the back another listing of the strengths of the HCG Gold, namely of course the certification, total modularity, an FDB fan, hybrid ventilation system and so on. In fact, it almost looks like we are in front of a Seasonic Focus Gold Plus, it’s strange, maybe this feeling will fade later, or not!

On the edge a sticker is present with a table of the distribution of the power and the number of connectors, it can always be useful to know it before proceeding to the checkout.

At the opening of the box again this strange feeling, as if the Antec logo had replaced that of Seasonic, strange all this story! We find the bundle placed on a thick foam in which the block resides, no problem to be done logically with the transport.

The bundle offers a few plastic cable ties, 3 hook and loop fasteners for easier “cable management”, the various manuals as well as a power cord and the necessary screws. It’s hard to ask for more here, we do not regret the absence of these small square stickers like beige boxes from the 90s with a space provided for them (for those who remember!).
