Introduction

Hi all !

Arctic Cooling is not the first in the world of cooling the components of our dear PCs. Whether installed on CPUs, GPUs or even boxes, the manufacturer’s solutions have been present for many years now and have often had an excellent performance / price ratio. Arctic Cooling is back in our columns with a CPU cooler that is not there to make in the lace, the Freezer 50 A-RGB. Big double-turn cooler offered at less than 70 €, it wants to come up against the most efficient models on the market such as the Noctua NH-D15 but at a lower price. Was the bet successful? This is what we will see!

As we can see, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 50 is a rather imposing model with 16.6 cm high, 15 cm deep and 14.8 cm wide. It is also very close to its competitor Noctua NH-D15 to within a few mm. Suffice to say that if you plan to get the beast, it is necessary to find out about the space available in height in your case as well as the location of the PCIe port closest to the CPU. Double turn requires, the weight is also quite high with almost 1.2 kg on the scale, it is about 140 g less than the Noctua. The cooling is entrusted to two fans but which have different diameters. The central fan is a 140mm model rotating at 1700 RPM maximum while the front end is limited to 120mm at 1800 RPM. They are both equipped with a hydraulic type bearing and should logically be rather discreet at rest. On the other hand, or if they are pushed to their limits, the sound level should be more than audible.

On the other hand, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 50 A-RGB stands out on the one hand by its price of course around € 30 lower than the Noctua NH-D15 but also by its features. The ARGB is effect of the party via a border as well as the logo on the top. But that’s not all. It is of course possible to drive these LEDs via a 5 V ARGB header on a motherboard but also via a control box supported by a wireless remote control! If you don’t care about those LEDs, a version without LEDs is available for € 10 less.
