Test – Cooler Master MasterBox 5
| Specs | Price

Hi all!

Back at Cooler Master today with another case, the entry-level version of the Master Case 5 Pro, the Master Box 5! On the program, a case compatible with motherboards up to ATX format, a rather sober design and a much more attractive price than its big brother, namely around 70 €! Of course, at this price, you should not count on modularity as advanced as its big brother of course, but it could be interesting for those looking for something less expensive, if the tests prove to be conclusive!

On paper, the MasterBox 5 has nothing to change the established order of the boxes in this tariff slice. Indeed its dimensions are average with 50 in length for 47.5 cm in height and 22 cm in width for a weight of about 7.3 kg, like most cases on the market.
Component compatibility is quite good with a graphics card that can reach 41 cm in length and a cooler that can peak at 16.7 cm, enough to install the largest components without the slightest problem.
On the other hand in terms of storage it is rather meager, only 2 slots for 3.5 ″ hard drives (2.5 ″ compatible) and a single slot for a 2.5 ″ SSD, so you will have to forget the file server with a good big package of HDDs.
The ventilation is also very classic here with 2 slots of 12/14 cm at the front and 1 of 12 cm at the rear, 2 fans of 12 cm are delivered as standard, one at the front and one at the rear, enough to ensure a correct air flow from the start. Watercooling is not forgotten with radiator compatibility up to 280mm at the front and 12 cm at the rear.
However, the functions have not been completely ruled out on the MasterBox 5, the hard drive cage is removable (it is possible to shift it towards the power supply if necessary), dust filters present, anti-vibration foam for the feed and even a window to see the bowels of the beast.
Offered at a price of around 70 € even if it does not shine by its characteristics against the competition, it still has a lot of features for it that could interest some buyers.

The Masterbox box is not extravagant, in fact we are entitled to simple cardboard with a diagram on the front as well as the name of the model and of course the brand. At the rear a profile view is present as well as a small listing of the main strengths.

On the sides there is a table with the full technical characteristics, at least the buyer knows what he is buying!

In the box we find the box in its plastic bag sandwiched between 2 polystyrene molds, a great classic!

There is no crowd in the bundle, there is the installation manual, the warranty leaflet, plastic cable ties, a 3-pin adapter -> Molex for a fan as well as the necessary screws, enough to install the configuration without worry, however.
