Test – Intel Core i3 7350K
| Specs | Price

Hi all!

The world of desktop processors is changing, and that’s not bad for the consumer! Intel after its famous series of “K” processors intended for overclocking and until then only available on the Core i5 and i7 decides to change all that a little. Indeed in addition to these last two processors the brand now offers a Core i3 version “K”, the 7350K. On the program, a processor equipped with 2 cores (Kaby Lake architecture) with hyperthreading like all the other Core i3s but with the multiplier coefficient unlocked, which will give overclockers the opportunity to have a blast.
The price of this overclocking feature compared to other i3s can be paid, 200 € for the Core i3 7350K, or around 80 € more than the i3 7100. Here we are getting dangerously close to the Core i5s which cost around 20 € moreover, the little i3 will have to have serious arguments! Let’s see this right away 😉

A little technical summary is needed to see what it is all about. I deliberately put the Core i5 7600K and i7 7700K because they represent a direct move upmarket but also the Core i3 7100 which is its little brother.
Of course the Core i3 7350K is based on the Kaby Lake architecture, which is nothing but an update of the Skylake architecture. It is made of 2 cores operating at a base frequency of 4.2 GHz equipped with hyperthreading, the “Turbo” mode as present on the Core i5 and i7 is not activated here, but the processor being oriented overclocking this will not be possible. no problem.
Kaby Lake processors like the Skylake are compatible with DDR3L 1333/1600 MHz or DDR4 2133/24000 MHz memories. The only difference being native support for 2400 MHz DDR4 (versus 2133 MHz for Skylake), of course this does not represent the “overclocked” frequency accessible via faster kits. The processor can manage a total of up to 64 GB of memory, which will be more than enough for almost all users of the market, others will have to turn to more high-end platforms, on socket 2011-3.
The graphics part is also present of course, with the Intel HD Graphics 630 graphics processor, which is once again only an update of the HD 530 of Skylake processors. The operating frequency fluctuates here between 350 MHz and 1.15 GHz.
The price of 200 € meanwhile places it at 60 € less than its big brother the Core i5 7600K, which has 4 “real” cores.
