Test of SilentiumPC Sigma Pro Corona RGB 120 Kit fans

SilentiumPC has just presented the thing that many people have been waiting for – a package of Sigma Pro Corona fans. In it we find three fans with backlight and a separate controller. But how will they turn out in the tests?

We receive the fans in a white package. Along with them, inside there is an instruction, a controller and a cable that allows you to connect all the fans to one LED connector. The controller has three buttons – color change, mode of operation and speed of color change. It is a pity that it is on the cable instead of in the form of a remote – it would make it much easier to change the backlight in the absence of the LED connector on the board. The full capabilities of the controller, in the form of a demonstration of built-in modes, can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The warranty is 24 months.

The fans look very good. They have LED strips with 18 RGB points, which create a great visual effect – something similar was also presented earlier by Enermax. Sigma Pro Corona are 120mm propellers with HBS hydraulic bearing. Their maximum speed is 1500 RPM, then the air flow is 33.3 dBA and the volume is 12.9 dBA. MTBF (service life) is 50 thousand hours. The fans have 8 specially bent blades that ensure good air flow. On the sides, in the mounting area, there are rubber pads to absorb vibrations. Sigma Pro Corona also has a removable rotor for easy cleaning of the fans. The last thing is the wiring – from the propellers comes one 3-pin cable for power supply and the other 4-pin cable for lighting control. The latter can be connected to the motherboard and controlled RGB. The quality of the fans is very good and I have nothing to complain about here.

Test methodology

1. Voltraft PL-130AN anemometer and Volfcraft SL-100 decibelometer were used in the tests.
2. The fan was placed in a special tube 250 mm long and 80 mm in diameter. An anemometer was placed at the other end of the tube. The results were written down after the flow stabilized.
3. The loudness tests were carried out from a distance of 200 mm with a background of 33 dBA.

Tests

Sigma Pro Corona provide slightly less airflow than the competition. Only at 800 RPM the fans are in the middle of the pack. The differences can be quite big, but the ranking includes even weaker propellers in terms of flow, so it’s not that bad. The fans are great in terms of work culture – at maximum speed they can be slightly audible, and there is practically silence.

SilentiumPC Sigma Pro Corona RGB 120 Kit costs only PLN 110. At this price, all flaws disappear and you only have to buy them. The propellers look very good and are well made. The performance itself could be a bit better and this is the only drawback of these designs. However, it is compensated by an excellent work culture. A small downside is also the controller on the cable instead of in the form of a remote control. However, as I mentioned – the price compensates for everything and if you are looking for cheap, illuminated fans, you have only one choice – Sigma pro Corona.
