The Artificial Intelligence Research Center will be established in Warsaw

During the meeting organized on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Information Processing Center – National Research Institute (OPI PIB), a very important news was announced. Dr inż. Jarosław Protasiewicz, director of OPI PIB announced the construction and presented the project of the Artificial Intelligence Research Center.

The new Artificial Intelligence Research Center is to be opened in 2023

In Warsaw’s Mokotów district, next to the current seat of OPI PIB, the Artificial Intelligence Research Center will soon be built. AI is constantly evolving, but work on this technology requires modern infrastructure that the new center is to provide.

To achieve the ambitious goals of OPI PIB, we must invest in infrastructure. You have certainly noticed on the screens the design of a modern, multi-storey building – Artificial Intelligence Research Center. I hope that in 2023 we will all be able to meet again on the occasion of its grand opening

– said Dr. Jarosław Protasiewicz, director of the Information Processing Center – National Research Institute (OPI PIB).

The director emphasized that although the building itself and all technical facilities are very important, the most important factor are qualified experts who work at OPI PIB. Thanks to their knowledge, experience and forward thinking, it will be possible to develop technology and be successful. It is worth noting here that at the Information Processing Center – National Research Institute, great emphasis is placed on interdisciplinarity. Scientists from many fields can conduct research in seven laboratories, and apart from IT experts, there are also lawyers, economists, sociologists and psychologists. It is thanks to this that it is possible to approach research issues from various sides.

The main areas of research conducted at OPI PIB are: machine learning and natural language processing algorithms, sentiment analysis, neural networks, knowledge discovery from text data, human-computer interaction (HCI), possibilities of using the potential of virtual reality (VR), computer decision support systems and artificial intelligence.

The meeting on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of OPI PIB was also a great opportunity to summarize the achievements of the center so far and emphasize its important function. Experts from OPI PIB create IT systems and software for the science and higher education sector. The results of their research and analysis on the research and development sector are helpful as a decision support tool. The event was attended by Wojciech Murdzek, secretary of state at MEiN, as well as representatives of the most important scientific and academic institutions and enterprises related to modern technology.
