The B660 boards will not have PCIe Gen5 to cut costs –

Once the new Alder Lake, the boards go hand in hand and it seems that users have not liked the excessive increase in price of these, therefore the B660 boards will not have PCIe Gen5 to lower costs.

Yesterday we could see how the Videocardz website received an image from a reliable source which claimed that Asus sent them a Z690 motherboard in a poorly labeled box, which reveals that the B660 motherboards will not have PCIe Gen5 to cut costs.

This decision from Asus is somewhat confusing, as PCIe Gen5 lanes are not related to chipsets and are instead part of the specifications of a processor, but this is probably related to said cost reduction.

Although you have to think that until PCIe Gen5 is a standard, a lot of time still has to pass, so for someone who does not want to leave a kidney in this new platform, a fairly modest and powerful team can be assembled with a B660 board, the future 12400 and some memories with high frequencies.

Without forgetting the problems that many users are having with the new Alder Lake micros and some games with DENUVO, which we hope the publishers can fix by removing this protection and Intel looking for a solution.
