The CEO of Intel wants more support from the US authorities and is complaining about the situation in Taiwan

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger received a lot of media attention at a conference in California (via Taiwan News) when he mentioned that Intel should not get, but deserve special treatment from the US government. The company’s president believes that the US authorities should treat Intel as a priority.

Intel CEO complains about competition, Taiwan and the US government’s approach, arguably trying to get the most out of the CHIPS bill

In his quest to strengthen his own backyard, Intel’s CEO is right that the US government should treat him and other American companies (Micron and Texas Instruments) with higher priority. At least when it comes to strengthening the US position in the semiconductor market, because, for example, Samsung and TSMC, receiving investments from the US, become even more difficult to overcome, given that they can count on huge government subsidies in their countries. That’s why this Gelsinger claims that Intel is struggling not so much with Samsung and TSMC in the market as South Korea and Taiwan.

Indeed, he said, Taiwan itself “is not a stable place” because of the current situation between it and China, which means that you cannot rely so much on the companies associated with it. Such harsh words are probably not a coincidence, because the government has still not finished work on the CHIPS law, which is intended to allocate $ 52 billion to chip manufacturers in the US. For obvious reasons, Intel wants to win as much as possible under this project.
