Z370 motherboard updates with support for the next Intel CPUs

A lot has been said about the backward compatibility of Intel processors with the previous generation of motherboards. In the end, it turned out that the “requirement” for a new chipset was actually a straightforward leap to the cash register on the manufacturers side. However, it looks like it will change soon, because Z370 motherboards have recently received interesting updates …

Almost all major motherboard manufacturers in recent days have released new BIOSes for Intel’s best consumer chipset of the current generation, the Z370. The patch was supposed to increase overall performance, update the Intel Management Engine on PCH and (most importantly) added support for the next series of processors. Of course, we have not yet received any confirmed information about the next CPUs. We can speculate, however, that these were taken for the representatives of the 9th generation, to which the as yet undisclosed 8-core system is to be joined.

It is not known whether these will represent the new (9th) generation, or whether they will belong to the eighth generation (Coffee Lake). The latter is indicated by the description on the manufacturers’ websites, among which only MSI posted information about the “next-generation CPU”. Others pointed to these changes as “support for the last series of Intel 8th generation processors.” Again, we should not draw far-reaching conclusions and we can only hope that the next generation of Intel processors will really make it available for the existing chipset (even only on the Z370), because it will be a big change in the company’s policy.
